Gas Sweetening
Gas sweetening is a process needed to extract hydrogen sulfide (H2S) from gasses. Gas sweetening is often considered a treatment for amines. The treatment of amines can be used in refineries, petrochemical plants, plants for processing natural gas and other industries. It is more referred to as gas-sweetening in oil refineries or chemical processing plants.
That is because a substance that no longer has the sour and unpleasant odors of H2S results in them. Since amine treatment does not elementally recover the sulphur, a sulphur recovery step must be taken.
